Indiana lawmakers will hold hearings on two short-sighted bills (SB100 & SB344) that harm LGBT Hoosiers. Even worse, they muddied the waters even more by scheduling a hearing that same day for SB66—aka "RFRA 2.0."
As they stand now, SB100 and SB344 are worse than the status quo—and would leave gay and transgender Hoosiers more vulnerable to discrimination than they are already.
As for SB 66: Remember how bad RFRA was? Well, SB66 is even worse. It would repeal the existing RFRA law and replace it with an even more heinous measure that makes it easier than ever to discriminate against LGBT Hoosiers.
That's why we're hosting a Statehouse Day of Action in conjunction with the hearings. On Wednesday, January 27th we'll kick it off the Day of Action with a rally at the Statehouse starting at 12:15PM. In the afternoon, we'll coordinate face-to-face meetings with lawmakers and host a phonebank marathon. Then at 4PM we'll pack the Senate Chamber for the joint hearing on SB100 and SB344.
Arrive at the Statehouse at noon wearing all red—and be ready to tell lawmakers the solution is simple: Four words and a comma to add "sexual orientation, gender identity" to Indiana's existing civil rights law. Use the form below to RSVP.
